Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how sala.video ("sala", "we", "us"), operated by Immigrant Films Pty Ltd, collects, uses, and protects your personal data.

1. Data we collect

• Account details — your name, email address, and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in readable form).
• Purchases — the films you buy, amounts, payment method, and a payment reference. We do not store your full card details; card payments are handled by Stripe.
• Viewing — your playback position, so you can resume films where you left off.
• Security — IP address and timestamps of sign-in attempts, to detect and prevent abuse.
• Cookies — a session cookie to keep you signed in; a referral cookie ("sala_ref", up to 30 days) if you arrive via a referral link; and preference cookies (such as language).

2. How we use your data

We use your data to create and manage your account; process payments and grant access to films; run the referral-credits program; send you transactional emails (setting or resetting your password, purchase confirmations); keep the Service secure and prevent fraud; and meet our legal obligations.

3. Legal bases

Where applicable, we rely on: performance of our contract with you (your account and purchases); our legitimate interests (security and improving the Service); your consent (for optional cookies); and compliance with legal obligations.

4. Public collection pages

If you set a username, your collection and any notes you add to it can be viewed at a shareable public link. Please don't put anything in your notes that you wouldn't want to be public.

5. Payments

Card payments are processed by Stripe, which processes your payment information under its own privacy policy. We do not store your full card details.

6. Service providers we work with

We share data only as needed with providers who help us run sala:

• Stripe — payment processing;
• Bunny.net — video hosting and streaming;
• TMDB — film metadata (queried when you view "where to watch");
• our email provider — to send account and purchase emails.

7. How we share data

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the providers above, where required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of sala and its users.

8. Data retention

We keep your account and transaction data for as long as your account is active and as needed for legal, tax, and accounting purposes.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, or to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, contact us at support@sala.video.

10. Security

Passwords are hashed, the Service is served over HTTPS, and film access uses time-limited signed links. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

11. International transfers

sala operates internationally, so your data may be processed in countries other than the one you live in.

12. Children

sala is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time and will post the new date above.
